New Interface for Google Analytics?
I use Google Analytics often – multiple hours, each day and every day. I often complained that with all the resources and money that Google has, it has not spent much time upgrading Google Analytics since its purchase of Urchin in March of 2005. Since we know that Microsoft is planning their own competing product (code named Gatineau), it has been my opinion that Google has version 2 of their product packaged up and just sitting on a shelf, waiting to steal the thunder from Microsoft upon announcement of Gatineau launch. Well, hopefull I am wrong, and I sure got excited when I saw the following message at the top of my Google Analytics interface this afternoon:
We’re excited to announce the newly redesigned Google Analytics.
Over the next several weeks, we will be migrating all existing Analytics accounts to the new Google Analytics interface. You will be notified by email once your account has been migrated. For an entire month you will be able to access both the original interface and the new interface. During the migration, you should experience no interruption in service and you’ll be able to see all of your data regardless of which interface you use. For a sneak peek at the new Google Analytics, take a look at the following resources.
Funny thing is, none of the links displayed anything new or different. Hrmmph? Did somebody flip a switch too soon? Is Google Analytics really getting a facelift? Here’s a screenshot just in case you need confirmation:

If you get a chance, give Clicky web analytics a shot. It’s much cleaner and integrates well with FeedBurner! I’m a Google Analytics fan, too – but Clicky has a much nicer interface!

Nice catch, Tyson. The cat is out of the bag today, though:

They moved the date range field and made it a little more intuitive, so I’m a fan.
The email reports are a godsend as well…
